Monday, February 25 is the day that Katherine McNamara and the rest of the cast will be coming back to the network in order to finish out the remainder of the season, which includes the two-hour finale that was filmed over the past several months. (We’re grateful that we’re getting the show before spring; that was our worst fear going in.)
As of right now, the advertising is that this will be the end of the road for the series, which it most likely will be pending some sort of dramatic shift or surprise elsewhere. You do never know precisely what’s going to happen down the line, and that’s why we do encourage everyone to check out the series live and find as many different ways to support it — if nothing else, the cast and crew (who poured their hearts into this) deserve the opportunity to end their time on the air in the biggest way possible.
As for some things that we know at present about the second half of season 3…
The episode count – There are ten more episodes coming before the final two episodes air — they could air together as a movie event. The end of season 3 episode 20 could actually feel like a finale with a big cliffhanger, given that it was originally intended as much.
Clary’s cliffhanger – Expect to see some sort of resolution early on in 3×11, in addition to a number of other exciting stories featuring some of your favorites. Luke Baines will be coming on board as the real Jonathan, while Anna Hopkins will be back in some form as Lilith. You can’t quite vanquish her forever, now can you? (We’re hesitant to share too much more simply because there are fans out there who don’t know the books.)
Will there be closure? – Yes, as the finale was designed for that. Yet, there could at least be something still left open in the event that someone decides to pick up the show or do some other movie down the lines. It’ll leave you satisfied, but we imagine there is still a chance you will leave it wanting more.
