The idea of Diona Reasonover’s character being outside of her typical element is fun enough for this episode; what does add to it further is that she’s going to be working alongside Torres! These two should have a fairly-fun rapport as they tackle all sorts of interesting obstacles on the way to getting the proper evidence. We always want to see people of differing personalities interact and try to solve problems; it helps to add something special to a show like this.
For a little more information on this story, including what McGee and Bishop are going to be up to halfway around the world, check out the NCIS season 16 episode 8 synopsis that CarterMatt has below:
“Friendly Fire” – McGee and Bishop travel to Afghanistan after a murder case in the states is linked to a string of soldiers killed by friendly fire overseas. Also, Kasie leaves the lab and accompanies Torres into the field to process additional forensic evidence, on NCIS, Tuesday, Nov. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
While the idea of two NCIS characters heading overseas isn’t the most jaw-dropping headline in the world, we do still welcome the fact that the producers are still telling these sort of stories. You don’t get them every week or really anywhere close to it. Yet, it is a part of the job, especially when there are incidents involving the men and women of the military virtually all over the globe. (For the production, the challenge here is finding a way to turn California into Afghanistan — then again, they have to be fairly used to the challenge at this point.)
