Not only that, but at present we feel quite confident that we’ll know the premiere date before we even get close to the holidays! One of the biggest things to consider at the moment is simply this: The NBC series has already been ordered for a 22-episode season 6. In order for these episodes to all end up airing before May sweeps wraps up, you have to think that the show will be kicking off fairly early on in the new year.
There are a couple of ways in which the series could choose to go about doing this. First, they could opt to release a batch of episodes in January while Blindspot takes a brief hiatus. Then, they could bring Blindspot back once Midnight, Texas wraps up its own season 2 run. Or, if Midnight, Texas manages to wrap up its run this year (it all depends on scheduling at this point), you can probably put The Blacklist on the air in a way that makes it immediately a part of the lineup with Blindspot.
Are we worried about the ratings for the series on Fridays, especially after a long layoff between seasons? Absolutely, but at the same exact time, we’ve also long felt like there was a certain degree of synergy with this show and Blindspot. Both have similar vibes and combine crime, action, and mystery. They pair together rather well and this lineup could prove to be a winning one. We just hope that there’s some information out there soon — given that NBC has already announced some January premiere dates, there’s a reason to think that some more could be coming.
