Alec Baldwin arrested after alleged fight; ABC talk show will still air

Alec Baldwin has found himself in trouble, and on this occasion, the controversy seemingly has to do with a parking spot.

According to a new report coming in via Variety, the actor and television host was arrested on Friday after allegedly punching a man in the midst of a parking dispute. Baldwin was taken into custody, and details about the incident are still emerging.

As for what this means for some of his current show-business gigs, that remains to be seen — though ABC did confirm to the aforementioned site that they will continue to air Sunday night’s new episode of The Alec Baldwin Show as planned. (If that series is in danger, it probably has more to do with the ratings than anything else that is going on at the moment.) There’s no word on if Baldwin was slated to appear on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live episode as Donald Trump, though he said before the season that he planned to make fewer appearances this year than in the past. Baldwin has recurred throughout the year as a mock version of the Commander-in-Chief. (For the record, NBC reports that Trump said “I wish him luck” after being told of the actor’s arrest.) Jonah Hill is hosting this weekend’s edition — we’d say that this is the perfect time for a Trump sketch, but we can really argue that almost any time is the perfect time for there to be a Trump sketch.

This is not the first time that Baldwin has been at the center of some sort of controversy, or trouble when it comes to the law. Yet, it’s clear in this era that the spotlight is on everyone so much more than it ever was previously. That is the nature of this modern-day climate and everyone has to be attune to some of the world that is around them — especially public figures.

In addition to hosting his Sunday-night talk show and his SNL gig, some of Baldwin’s other notable TV credits include him hosting the modern-day version of Match Game.
