The Amazing Race 31 official cast reveal: When’s it happening?
In terms of the larger cast theme, it’s been out there for some time that the teams competing this time around are from Big Brother, Survivor, and past seasons of The Amazing Race — making this one gigantic CBS crossover experience. (We recognize that there are a lot of names already out there, but we like to wait for this sort of thing to be officially confirmed.)
One thing we do know is that we’re getting closer to the time when some of these cast members will be officially revealed. So, when will that be in this instance? More than likely, we’re thinking that they will be out there come early December, at the latest. That is when the cast for season 30 was formally announced, but CBS could also opt to do this a little bit earlier just to ensure that they get some more hype out of this season.
For anyone out there wondering why CBS is doing this sort of casting theme for season 31 in the first place, it all comes back to one thing: Ratings. Season 30, which had Jessica & Cody from Big Brother in the cast, delivered the best ratings for the show in some time. It’s hard to say if it was them or the better timeslot that were the reason for the ratings bump, but CBS clearly thinks they were a part of it. We do think it makes some sense to bring known reality TV commodities over here, but we do hope that down the line, the series does focus itself again on new teams and normal people who don’t have reality TV experience. That is the life-blood of what makes this show the great one that it is.
