In a new post on Twitter, the series’ writers room made it clear that the dailies for the movie so far are looking very good — “tasty,” in fact. Everyone seems to have some fun working on the movie behind the scenes. Even if this does turn out to be the end of the road for Timeless, there does appear to be a commitment to making this the best send-off possible.
Of course, there is also a cognizance here that the movie doesn’t necessarily have to be the end of the road, either. That’s why the writers note to “get some friends hooked on the show” before the movie airs on December 20. If the ratings are more or less equal to what they were on NBC at the end of season 2, it’s fair to assume that this will be the end of the road. Yet, what happens in the event that the ratings rise. If you can find a way to show that you can grow your audience, that could put some networks / streaming provider into a tricky spot!
If there is one major reason that we have hope at the moment, it’s the simple fact that Timeless has been forced to air at 10:00 p.m. Eastern for most of its run. That is something that hurts its ability to bring in families, and this is a series that viewers of all age can watch. With the movie coming on a little bit earlier at night, there is a possibility that there could be more families checking it out live — especially with it being so close to the holidays. There shouldn’t be that much out there in terms of competition.
