NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 6 review: Was there any time for Halloween?

NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 6 was the series’ Halloween episode — yet, there was so much more going on here than just your standard tricks and treats.

Take, for example, the capture of Pride’s assistant and everything that he had to go through to ensure that nothing happened to her. As it turns out, though, she was actually connected to a suspect who was harvesting organs from a number of difficult victims. This was a strange, creepy case for the team to take on since it was far from your typical crime — though it did also have a familiar sort of stand-off. Trying to stop this before it got any worse was imperative. (In general, hasn’t NCIS: New Orleans has a number of different violent sequences in medical situations as of late?)

On a more humorous note, on the other side of this case we got to see Sebastian and Gregorio’s joint Halloween costumes! She may not have been the biggest fan of it in the world, but she wanted to make him happy and was willing to go along with the fun in order to elicit a positive reaction from him.

The much-hyped guest star in this episode was Geoffrey Owens, who played the role of Pride’s longtime friend Cal, who also just so happened to be a doctor. He wants his buddy to find a way to get better, but it’s becoming increasingly clear at present that there are some roadblocks that are getting in the way of that. It was great to see Owens and we liked the relationship that he and Pride had, but we were also surprised that Owens’ time in the episode was so short. It felt almost like a cameo more than a guest spot, and we really do hope that there is a chance to bring him back on the show again.

CarterMatt Verdict

There were some fun moments within the Halloween episode, and for this time of year, what better thing to bring out than organ harvesting? We do wish there was more of Owens and that, in general, we were getting a sense of the ins and outs of Pride’s new job; yet, NCIS: New Orleans does his best in order to show that no matter where Pride goes, it just so turns out that Dwayne just can’t escape his past … and we’re rather happy with that.
