Let’s start here by pointing out that the return date here is on Tuesday, November 13 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time — one week after the midterm elections. Like many other major networks, ABC is taking the week off and that seems to be a fairly smart move. After all, they don’t want to put themselves in a position where the ratings suffer — especially when they have such a limited number of episodes for The Conners in the first place. They have to take advantage of the numbers that they have first and foremost.
As for the story, CarterMatt has The Conners episode 4 synopsis with some other news when it comes to the story:
When Geena learns that D.J. hasn’t been taking Mary to church while she’s been away, she insists they go as a family to uphold her traditional values. To make matters worse, Mary refuses to attend without her cousins Harris and Mark, leaving D.J. in the last situation he wants to be in – at the mercy of Darlene. Meanwhile, Mark’s attempt to conduct an unbiased survey on the upcoming election for his school project goes south when Jackie volunteers to help.
One of the things that is curious about this episode is that it was actually filmed second ; yet, it is the fourth one to air. Why is it that The Conners potentially shifted this one (if they did) until after the elections? It may just be because they didn’t want for this story to be an influencing factor to anyone before the elections. Or, it’s just possible that it needed to be filmed early for production reasons. Either way, it’s still some fascinating trivia.
