The Resident season 2 spoilers: Meet new character Alec!

According to a new report from Deadline, Miles Gaston Villanueva (Law & Order: True Crime) is going to be playing this character on a recurring basis, and it does seem like he is coming to Chastain with a very specific view of medicine. Take a look at his character description below:
“[Alec is a] born innovator, a loner and iconoclast who has spent a lifetime on the move. His father was an eccentric and Alec lived part of his childhood in a converted school bus. He studied to be an infectious disease doctor, but after a stint volunteering with Partners in Health on a Navajo reservation, he embraced a vision of medicine that tries to alter lifestyle via community outreach to prevent, rather than treat, illness. Alec is tender with patients but blunt with everyone else. And yet he is a charmer. His relationships with women tended in the past to lack deep roots. Whenever it was necessary, he moved on.”
This is a pretty in-depth description of this role, and it does give you a good sense that he has a very specific upbringing than almost anyone else on the series. This should enable him to be very good at offering different viewpoints, but that could also lead to him clashing with some of the other doctors, as well. We’re excited to just have him around on the series, though, just because it does always feel important to see people who bring to the table new and exciting energies.
