Fuller House season 4: Juan Pablo Di Pace on series’ renewal chances

Fuller House

Fuller House season 4 is premiering on Netflix presumably at some point in December, and there are certainly questions already about the show’s future.

Earlier this month, reports first surfaced that the series, despite debuting to enormous popularity on the streaming service, could be at an end. What gives with that? It may be a function of declining viewership over time, but it’s hard to know given that Netflix doesn’t report numbers publicly. What we do know is that Netflix has been canceling shows left and right as of late — they have, over the past month, cut bait with Luke Cage, American Vandal, and Iron Fist. More could be coming. This is a streaming service now that doesn’t necessarily have any obligation to keep shows around long-term anymore since they have so many. The moment that they end one show, they can replace it with another.

If you do love the series, then maybe you can take comfort in Juan Pablo Di Pace’s words. Following a recent Dancing with the Stars episode he told Extra that he still feels hopeful for the series’ future … and also made it clear that Fuller House never learns about their future until weeks after the show premieres. We don’t expect anything to be different here. Do we think that Netflix has questioned the show’s future? Sure, but they likely do that with many different shows. What they really need to figure out for themselves is where things stand after the viewership numbers come in. If Fuller House season 4 is bigger than expected, we absolutely don’t expect them to end it; heck, they may not if the numbers are even precisely what they expect. There are so many variables that go into keeping a show and we do think the biggest merit to Fuller House is that it represents an audience that you don’t often see being catered to elsewhere.
