This Is Us season 3: Is there a fourth Pearson? Reexamining the theory
There is certainly a reason to believe there is validity to this theory: It’s clear that Rebecca is not the only woman Jack loved in his life; beyond just that, there is the photo of him with the woman that surfaced on Tuesday night’s new episode. This is someone who we’ve already seen in the Vietnam flashbacks already, and given what has been said about Jack and some of the revelations coming overseas in this story, we don’t think that it is beyond the realm of possibility that there is a half-sibling over there that none of the Pearsons knew about beforehand.

For a good while now, we’ve wondered whether or not there was something explosive waiting in Vietnam. One theory was that Nicky could actually be still alive over there, but that seems a little more implausible given the way that Jack has been acting. Yet, at the same time, could you say the same thing about a fourth Pearson? It seems so strange that Jack, who cares so deeply and fully about his kids, would have another one somewhere else that he would never talk about. It’s possible that there is a kid over there that Jack never knew about, and that’s another way to look at it. As a matter of fact, that is the only way that we can imagine this theory being true.
What we like about the theory is that it could offer up another way for the Pearsons to really think about Jack without him actually being around. This is a connection, if it exists, to a part of his life that they never knew about previously. There is something really fascinating about that, especially they are all at a point in their lives when they are focusing on so many other things.
One way or another, though, we know that Vietnam changed Jack mightily — no revelation or surprise is going to alter or change that theory around.
