NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 episode 4 review: Where is Hetty? Who’s in danger?

NCIS: Los Angeles

Sunday night’s NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 episode 4 was entitled “Hit List,” and one of the most interesting things about it is that through it all, we’re still not left with a lot of closure.

Early on in the episode, it became pretty clear that a target was forming on the back of Shay Mosley; not only was a special prosecutor desperately looking to take her down, but it also seems like someone wants her life … and the lives of those who are close to her.

At the moment, Mosley is desperate and she also likely realizes one other thing: She’s very good at her job, save for a decision that she made for family. The idea came about that she could try to pin everything on her and with that, find a way to get out from under it. If that happens, be prepared for a lot of carnage (and anger from many fans). For now, Sam is looking after her son and she seems ready to do anything to save her own hide. You get a sense just from this alone that we’re in for a rather bumpy ride and some rather intense cases coming up this season.

Beyond just Mosley, there is the Hetty of it all. Where is she, and why is she staying away? That’s a question that tonight’s episode didn’t answer, although she did turn up via voice-modulator at the end of the episode that she will be gone for a while and things are going to get so much worse before they get better. Callen, meanwhile, was advised to keep his distance from both Anna and Joelle while everything gets sorted out, given that the longer this investigation lasts, the more dirt could be dug up on some of the other agents and everything that they have been through. We anticipate that there are a lot of twists still coming and that’s something that these characters are going to have to work through.

The bad news for Deeks and Kensi seems to be this, for now — their wedding planning may have to go on the back burner again … at least in the aftermath of this investigation.

CarterMatt Verdict

Overall, NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 episode 4 gave us a story that was absolutely intense and one that seems to only be scratching the surface for some of what could be coming. We like that this story is so serialized right now, mostly because we get more invested with some of these twists each and every step of the way.
