Shameless season 9 episode 8 return date for Emmy Rossum, cast
The first thing that is rather surprising about this season is just the way in which episodes are airing in the first place. We’re getting a batch of episodes, a lengthy break, and then another batch of seven episodes on the other side. Presumably, at the end of those seven episodes will be when original series star Emmy Rossum departs. As for when the specific return date for Shameless season 9 is going to be, think along the lines of Sunday, January 20. This is when you will get another run of seven episodes concluded with the end of this season. Hopefully, at some point by that time, we are going to have a chance to know about a potential season 10. There’s been some cautious optimism regarding the future of the show, but hopefully we are going to get a chance to see some answers sooner rather than later. If we get a season 10, we certainly do think that it will feel like a totally different iteration of the series than any that we’ve had a chance to check out before. It will have a completely different style and vibe to it, which makes sense given that the cast will be so different.
In the end, we just want Shameless to continue to be the bizarre, entertaining comedy / drama hybrid that it’s always been. Even if it’s not going to feel the same, there is a chance to have it be an entertaining show. (We do think, though, that there is a case for giving it a new name and billing it as a spin-off if so many original cast members end up departing.)
