Top Chef: Kentucky premiere date announced; first season 16 trailer!
What makes this particular trailer reminds us of, first and foremost, is that Kentucky is a very different setting than any that we have seen before. There’s a lot of rustic charm that comes with being in the state. Yet, there is also a very sophisticated food scene, one that goes beyond just bourbon and barbecue into a number of different flavors. We’re not sure that we will have seen a season quite like this; we also appreciate this one just because in general, Kentucky in its purest form has not been spotlighted all that much on TV before. (Typically, you’ve got other places pretending to be Kentucky.)
Per Bravo, the following fifteen chefs are all slated to take part in this competition.
Eric Adjepong – Washington, DC
Sara Bradley – Paducah, KY
Kelsey Barnard Clark – Dothan, AL
Edmund “Eddie” Konrad – Philadelphia, PA
Pablo Lamon – Miami Beach, FL
Natalie Maronski – Philadelphia, PA
Michelle Minori – San Francisco, CA
Nini Nguyen – Brooklyn, NY
Brandon Rosen – San Mateo, CA
Kevin Scharpf – Dubuque, IA
Caitlin Steininger – Cincinnati, OH
Justin Sutherland – St. Paul, MN
David Viana – Asbury Park, NJ
Adrienne Wright – Boston, MA
Brian Young – Boston, MA
It’s a pretty eclectic group of people with different experiences, food traditions, and ambitions. You get a small taste of many of them in the trailer.
Eventually, this season is also going to venture far from Kentucky, heading to Macau for what could be at least a few episodes. Typically, this is something that happens really late in the season.
Also, there’s another great twist that is coming this season: Restaurant Wars is going to feature three different restaurants this year. That should prove to be very fun, to say the least.
