Jane the Virgin season 5 premiere date coming in January
In a new post on Twitter, executive producer Jennie Urman confirmed that the season 5 premiere for the Gina Rodriguez series is not going to be coming on the air until January. Given that it’s not on the fall schedule, we assumed that it was going to be a little while that we were forced to wait.
Do we think that it’s going to be worth it? Absolutely so. Given that this is the last part of the show’s journey, it’s a reasonable assumption to make that the writers are going to pull out all of the stops. That means everything from bringing back a number of familiar faces to also giving us a good opportunity to seeing if Jane and some of these other characters are going to find some happiness for themselves despite all of their setbacks. Of course, that’s without even mentioning the enormous shock that is Michael (somehow) still being alive. This has to be one of the largest cliffhangers that we’ve seen for some time, and crazy as it does seem, it really does feel fitting for the show’s telanovela style.
The good thing about waiting until January to see Jane the Virgin come back is that there’s a chance you’ll get to see a lot of these episodes consecutively without interruption. The hard part is of course now, where you will have to sit around and wait. Odds are, we will have a chance to get a premiere date announcement at some point in November or so — The CW won’t want to wait too long, mostly because they want to ensure that everyone watches. Even if this is the final season, you still want the ratings to be pretty darn solid.
