NCIS season 16 episode 5 preview: ‘Fragments’ and a potential exoneration

NCIS season 16 episode 5 next week is going to be a different sort of installment from what we’ve seen on the series in the past. Through “Fragments,” you will have an opportunity to learn more about a case from the past, as opposed to one set in the present. Not only that, but we are looking at a case here that is decades in the making involving a man who has spent the majority of his life in prison. It’s rather hard to recover from living that life, but if the NCIS team has their way, a man named Ray Jennings may have an opportunity to do just that.

Below, the NCIS season 16 episode 5 synopsis offers up a little more information now regarding what’s ahead:

“Fragments” – After a 50-year-old tape recording left by a murder victim is found, the NCIS team tries to exonerate Ray Jennings (Charlie Robinson), the Marine serving a life sentence for the crime, on NCIS, Tuesday, Oct. 23 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

We don’t think that we have to attest all that much to this episode’s importance. After all, remember that this is an hour that is going to offer up an opportunity to address the number of innocent people who are behind bars, and in this case, offer up one another chance. There is no guarantee that Ray Jennings will be exonerated, but with the team’s help, he may be able to get a second chance … with an emphasis on the word “may.” This is one of those cases where it’s not going to be easy for the team to do their jobs, given that so much of the evidence from the past may be so far buried.
