The Last Ship season 5 episode 6 video: Preparing for the air drop
What’s going on here? It’s really so simple as Chandler and company doing everything that they can to prepare their next move against Gustavo and his group that is trying to expand its influence and its power. Entering this episode, it’s pretty clear that there is a battleground in Cuba where various forces are going to converge. We imagine that a great deal of drama and chaos will happen there, which is both exciting and also highly intense. The air drop in this sneak peek could just be one part of a larger plan, though the preview is presented without a whole lot of context or insight as to what’s going on elsewhere.
By the end of this episode, the one thing that we do absolutely expect here is a good bit of bloodshed, especially since we’ve got of anxious Marines who we’re not as familiar with. Anytime this show just introduces a wide array of new characters we don’t know all that much about, it is just our natural inclination to think that they are all just going to disappear and/or die in the near future. It’s just a part of this show’s DNA to have a fairly large body count.
Hopefully, though, this episode does get us a few steps closer towards hope for the crew of the Nathan James. We do want to see them have some sort of peace by the end of this series, even if it does not seem to be coming altogether easily for any of them. Gustavo has already shown himself to be both formidable and deadly, and the worst may still be to come. Isn’t that usually the case as we approach the home stretch of a season?
