An Alias reboot may be in early discussions, says Jennifer Garner

Alias revival

Are we actually going to see a new version of Alias coming at some point in the future? Based on what original series star Jennifer Garner had to say, it actually does seem possible.

Speaking (via The Hollywood Reporter) in promotion of his new HBO show Camping, Jennifer Garner made it clear that there may be some discussions happening about bringing back the show — even if she is not at the forefront of it:

“I’ve heard that there’s an Alias reboot happening, but no one’s talked to me about it … I mean it would be totally different. But if they didn’t have me on as a guest, I would be very, very angry. But I can’t imagine it being that serious yet because I haven’t heard anything about it at all.”

One of the most exciting things about the idea of a new Alias at the moment is that there could be a lot of interesting new venues for it beyond just ABC< if the producers were interested in taking it out to some other possible outlets. This is a show that could be even better if it was able to be a bit edgier and extreme; yet, we also don’t know if a new version would work without Garner given that she was so much of a reason for the series’ success. Wouldn’t it be just as effective to create a new series with an awesome heroine doing some of the same stuff in her own way? We think that the main reason we don’t see that happen as much now as it used to in the past is simply because remakes / reboots are easier to profit of. Because there is so much competition out there in the world of TV, it just makes more sense for networks to try to capitalize on a new name versus a new one that could get lost.
