Gotham season 5 spoilers: New look at show’s version of Harley Quinn
One of the things that you do have to remember when it comes to Ecco is this: Much like Jeremiah isn’t a straight replication of the Joker, she’s largely the same way. There are certain characters that, for whatever reason, DC is extremely protective of and don’t want multiple iterations of existing throughout television and motion pictures. This is Gotham doing their best to get around this, giving you a character who is very much similar but may not have the same mythology or the same name. It’s close enough to at least feel familiar.
Francesca Root-Dodson (who plays the character) did recently share a new photo of Ecco on Instagram (see below), and all you need to do is look at that to realize that this really is another take on the classic Harley character. The caption to the post itself certainly feels like a not-so-subtle nod to her, as well. We’re glad that Root-Dodson will be back for some stretch of time, just as we are equally glad that Cameron Monaghan will be around to help wrap up the story further. He recently announced that he is departing Shameless, but all signs point towards him seeing this story through for the rest of the run. (Granted, there are only ten more episodes here and with Shameless, the series may be ongoing.)
