‘Shiptober 2018: NCIS: Los Angeles (Deeks & Kensi) vs. Shadowhunters (Simon & Izzy)
It’s a chance to celebrate some of the greatest ‘ships that the TV has to offer, and we’ve got a fun tournament this year to go along with it. Over the course of this month, we’ll be running some ‘Shiptober polls while also discussing what makes some of these couples so great and also sharing some teases / expectations for upcoming episodes! This is a chance to celebrate and discuss great ‘ships while gauging their popularity among readers at the same time. Only one ‘ship will be crowned the victor at the very end!
Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Only one ‘ship will move on to the next round, and we are keeping these polls open until Friday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. In this ‘Shiptober battle, we’ve got two very different shows featured in NCIS: Los Angeles and Shadowhunters, plus two very different sort of ‘ships in Deeks / Kensi and Simon / Izzy who are at very different spots in their respective stories. Let’s get right to it!
Deeks & Kensi, NCIS: Los Angeles (#1 seed) – There really aren’t too many long-running crime series that have relationships that are both stable and also fun — yet, NCIS: Los Angeles has two of them with Densi and then also Nell / Eric. What Deeks and Kensi bring to their relationship is a lot of love, but then also a sort of playfulness and sense of independence. They make sure every day that they try to make this relationship work, but also that they don’t necessarily change themselves all that much along the way. They don’t want to lose themselves in some effort to be like each other. It’s a part of what makes them great, and we know that there is some really great stuff coming later this season! Be prepared for a Densi wedding, but hopefully also some other pleasant surprises sprinkled in along the way.
Simon & Izzy, Shadowhunters (#8 seed) – With these two characters, meanwhile, we’ve got a ‘ship that is clearly in a different place in their relationship on TV — but with that, there’s also a lot to look forward to. These are two characters who are very distinct, dynamic, and capable of so much love and understanding. They also have personalities that are different enough that it makes them all the more interesting around each other. While nothing is confirmed just yet about season 3B, all signs point to there being some very-good Sizzy stuff coming up. You especially have to hope so given the uncertainty of the series beyond the twelve episodes coming up. (Still crossing fingers for more on this end!)
