Will Shameless season 10 happen without Cameron Monaghan, Emmy Rossum?

Shameless season 8

Earlier today, the news came out that Cameron Monaghan is going to be leaving Shamelessand the role of Ian Gallagher, after being a part of the show for years. Meanwhile, this news comes alongside the other information out there about Emmy Rossum’s impending departure.

The situation that we’re looking at right now is fairly clear: Two of the series’ most-popular actors are going to be departing at the end of the season, and there are still questions about a season 10.

Here’s what makes this situation so interesting to us — Shameless has been aware of Cameron’s departure for quite some time now. It almost feels like his exit has been projected long before even Rossum’s. Therefore, all of the press that was done around her departure from the show still stands. Showtime is still looking forward, and William H. Macy seems to be also continuing on as Frank. For him, it’s a little bit easier to do so since he’s already had an amazing career and gotten to do a wide array of different things. Meanwhile, Monaghan is still young and may want to stretch himself as an actor and take on some different challenges. we’ve already seen him on Gotham and he was tremendous there. With that, we certainly believe that he could also shine in a wide array of other venues, as well, if given the opportunity.

For now, though, we don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves. There is one more episode of Shameless with Cameron and if this is the end of the story for this character, we certainly do hope that it is an exciting one that suits the Ian character.
