‘Shiptober 2018: Legends of Tomorrow (Sara & Ava) vs. Chicago PD (Burgess & Ruzek)
It’s a chance to celebrate some of the greatest ‘ships that the TV has to offer, and we’ve got a fun tournament this year to go along with it. Over the course of this month, we’ll be running some ‘Shiptober polls while also discussing what makes some of these couples so great and also sharing some teases / expectations for upcoming episodes! This is a chance to celebrate and discuss great ‘ships while gauging their popularity among readers at the same time. Only one ‘ship will be crowned the victor at the very end!
Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Only one ‘ship will move on to the next round, and we are keeping these polls open until Friday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. In this ‘Shiptober battle, we’ve got one of the most popular ‘ships from the Arrowverse in Sara & Ava (from Legends of Tomorrow) facing off against one of the most popular ‘ships from One Chicago in Burgess & Ruzek (from Chicago PD). This should be a ‘ship battle for the ages!
Sara & Ava, Legends of Tomorrow (#4 seed) – Going into season 4 of Legends of Tomorrow, there were some signs that Sara Lance was going to be getting her most-prominent love interest to date. Yet, it was hard to really gauge how good of a romance it would be. As it turns out, Avalance met expectations and then some. It’s a relationship that is fun at times and emotional at others, given that it challenges both Sara Lance and Ava Sharpe. These are two people who both have very difficult pasts and issues they need to work with, but there’s no question and their collective worlds brighten up the moment they are together. They love each other and bring the best out of each other; here’s to hoping that continues in season 4, even when the Legends and the Time Bureau are not on the same page. (That, after all, is inevitable.)
Burgess & Ruzek, Chicago PD (#5 seed) – These two characters have been one of the most-notable on-again, off-again ‘ships within the One Chicago world. There are times when it felt like Burzek was going to get married and go the distance, whereas there were other times where it felt like there were metaphorical miles between them. There were a few hopeful moments last season, but to date in season 6, it’s been all quiet on the romance front. Marina Squierciati told CarterMatt at One Chicago Day that there would be some sort of update on the state of this relationship over the first handful of episodes this season, so be sure to watch intently and there should be more news before long. Even if Burzek does fizzle out for whatever reason, that doesn’t take away their passion or their impact so far.
