Madam Secretary season 5 episode 2 preview: What happened at the White House?

As we move into Madam Secretary season 5 episode 2 next week, one thing feels very much clear: Elizabeth has a mission. In the aftermath of some attacks on the White House, she finds herself very much tasked with try to figure out precisely who these people really were. Not only that, but she has to try and figure out why they did some of what they did. This is an important mission, but also a delicate one. When you are talking about a mission with this sort of high stakes, you have to be cognizant of the fact that one wrong move can send everyone completely haywire.

For Henry McCord, it seems as though he is going to get so much more up close and personal with one of the responsible parties than even he imagined.

Below, CarterMatt has the Madam Secretary season 5 episode 2 synopsis with some additional news on what you can expect to see:

“The Chaos Game” – When Elizabeth discovers that the White House attackers had support from overseas, she tries to hunt down those responsible without starting a war. Also, Henry comes face to face with one of the attackers, on MADAM SECRETARY, Sunday, Oct. 14 (10:30-11:30 PM, ET/10:00-11:00 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Will there be more in this episode beyond just trying to assess the aftermath of the attacks? Absolutely so, but it may not be something that CBS is super-interested in promoting in advance. After all, they also do not have much of a reason to do so given that this is a very-appealing tease on its own for the upcoming episode. We are, after all, talking about a story that features the entire country being on tilt over something that has just happened. While we’ve seen a number of Madam Secretary crises during the series run, few of them feel anywhere near as domestic as this one when it comes to significance. This one absolutely does feel like something a little bit special.
