Doctor Who season 11 episode 2: First details on ‘The Ghost Monument’
Let’s start off here with the episode’s official title of “The Ghost Monument.” What does that mean? It likely relates to some issues from the past that The Doctor and some of her new companions will have to take on. Yet, with that being said, what sort of ghosts will they be? Maybe to some of the characters on the show itself, these people or glimpses of the past (provided we are reading the title correctly). Yet, at the same time we don’t think that these ghosts are ones we will be familiar with. It’s already been confirmed by Chris Chibnall that the series isn’t too intent on relying on past monsters or too many familiar things from past seasons. It feels very much like this season is relying on building up its own world and establishing some of its own mythology. We do think that some of these callbacks will eventually happen, but it may take a little bit of time in order to get there. The idea here is to be able to bring in some new fans, while still catering to some longtime viewers at the same time.
Below, the Doctor Who season 11 episode 2 synopsis offers up some additional information when it comes to the story ahead:
Still reeling from their first encounter, can the Doctor and her new friends stay alive long enough in a hostile alien environment to solve the mystery of Desolation? And just who are Angstrom and Epzo?
This synopsis is one that certainly asks a number of questions, and we do hope that some of these are answered! Beyond that, though, we really just want this season to be fun. Fingers crossed that this is an episode that makes us laugh, and beyond that one that also gives us a chance to stretch and use our imagination a little bit.
