Blue Bloods season 9 episode 2 review: Jamie, Eddie’s ‘I love you’ moment
When it comes to Jamie Reagan, for example, he has taken on a whole new responsibility for himself as Sergeant. He’s working in a new district and with that comes many challenges. There are a few different things that he has to contend with, and that included officers who decided not to follow the rules … and also keep secrets from the superiors.
For Jamie, the biggest blindside that he got was learning that Eddie did not want to be transferred over to the new precinct to work under Jamie. Why? From her perspective, she wanted to continue to love Jamie, and not so much Sergeant Reagan. She is still getting used to the new normal that includes making lasagna for family dinner and establishing a Code Blue scenario that was mostly just a way of seeing how she could handle various family situations. It was a little cruel, but also rather fun.
Meanwhile, tonight also brought you another fantastic storyline between Frank and Baker as the two worked together to resolve an issue in the Special Victims Unit over an unsympathetic detective. Could they really remove a person from the SVU because of their gender? No, but sometimes, there are good and bad people for the job and Frank came to recognize that even more over time. Baker did some good policework in this episode, and she was not the only one as we also saw a good story for Erin in which she looked into allegations in and around the D.A.’s office.
Then, we of course had Danny, who tonight did everything that he could in order to help his father after there were some questions as to whether or not a fired police detective was targeting him. He was, after all, turning up at many places where Frank was … and the last thing that you want to do is anger one of Frank’s sons desperate to protect their father.
CarterMatt Verdict
As a whole, we do very much consider Blue Bloods season 9 episode 2 to be one of the more entertaining hours that we’ve had a chance to see this season, largely because there was so much good content but also a wide range of it — you had interesting, thought-provoking content, but also a little bit of humor and a nice Jamko moment for those looking to see a little bit more of her outside of the field. (They said “I love you” on the show to each other — for the first time!)
