Is NCIS season 16 episode 3 angling to be especially explosive? Judging from the that we have for you promo below, we’d wager so.
On next week’s installment, Gibbs and the rest of the team are going to be taking on an especially dangerous case that starts with a serial bomber terrorizing a number of different homes. Much like there was a serial killer who turned up in “Love Thy Neighbor” this week, the next episode is also putting the focus on someone who is going after multiple victims for an unknown reason.

It’s one thing for these bombers to be attacking random characters we have no relationship or understanding of. It’s a completely different thing for Gibbs to be in the cross-hairs. This is where this episode (fittingly titled “Boom”) gets a little bit hairy. The end of this promo strongly suggests that Gibbs could end up becoming a bomb victim himself after a mysterious package is delivered to him. He opens it in front of Kasie so there is a reasonably good chance that the two of them could be in some pretty serious trouble.
The good news remains this: Gibbs does still have the best in the business around him, especially now that Torres and Palmer probably aren’t going to be spending their time chilling out in a jail cell. (If you missed that, check out our review for it here.) This episode does have a lighthearted storyline coming courtesy of a reality TV star who one of the main characters is starstruck by; yet, that’s not referenced in the promo and it feels like one of those classic NCIS runners that will be mentioned when the entire team is in the office.
