Jenna Dewan leaving World of Dance after two seasons
Today, Dewan herself confirmed the news in a post on Instagram, making it clear that she is leaving while also doing her part to say that she does want to return in some capacity moving forward:
Hi to my World of Dance lovers! I have some news to share: I will not be returning to the show as host for season 3. But! I won’t be able to stay away for long, and plan to return to mentor contestants as much as possible … It has been an absolute thrill to be a part of this incredible, groundbreaking show from the very beginning, and I am forever grateful.
Ultimately, it’s not altogether hard to figure out why we are losing Dewan at this point, given that she has roles on both The Resident alongside her upcoming series Mixtape, which is heading to Netflix after it seemed as though there was going to be a steady home for it over at Fox. (It was not picked up there past the pilot stage.)
We are excited to see what lies ahead for Dewan in her career, but we’re also interested in seeing precisely who World of Dance brings on board now as a host. More than likely, it’s going to be someone else with hosting experience and it’s ultimately rather hard to imagine how anyone else would even work in this position.
There is no specific world as to when World of Dance season 3 will premiere … but we do know that it is going to be back. As for when it will come back on the air, think in terms of the late spring / early summer. This is where the series has worked so well to date.
