Blue Bloods season 9: Was Louis Delgado involved in Linda’s death?

Blue Bloods season 9

For much of this past year, Blue Bloods viewers have been led to believe that the death of Linda Reagan was an accidental helicopter crash. Yet, there was a line from Louis Delgado on Friday’s premiere episode that throws a wrench into that idea.

In this line, the character seemingly insinuated that it’s possible that Linda’s death was intended, much in the same way that Danny Reagan’s house burned down at the end of season 7. We’ve known that the arson was an intentional act, but the helicopter-crash murder is something we couldn’t see coming. So much about Danny’s healing process was him willing to accept the fact that her death had nothing to do with him — he had to let his guilt go since somethings you just can’t change.

After the episode last Friday, our initial reaction was that Delgado (who may or may not actually be dead — we haven’t seen the head!) was just goading Danny by bringing up her death, given that it made headlines at the time and he would be aware of it. Yet, that may not be the case. While show executive producer Kevin Wade is neither confirming nor denying the true circumstances surrounding Linda’s death and Delgado’s comments, he did offer up the following tease to TVLine:

“The fact that Delgado brings it up certainly sounds alarms for Danny, and likely does for the audience as well.”

If it is true that Linda was murdered, we can only matter what that will do for Danny’s psyche given that he’ll be left to take responsibility for something. That could really change his perspective on just about anything; he’s fine putting himself in danger for the sake of his job, but his entire family is a different story.
