Madam Secretary season 5 episode 1 video: What’s next for Elizabeth, Henry?

Madam Secretary

On the premiere episode of Madam Secretary airing a week from Sunday, we’re going to see a number of different stories play out — this, of course, includes yet another major overseas crisis.

As the sneak peek below gives away, the setting for this particular crisis is India, and both Elizabeth and Henry McCord have their own sentiment as to the right way in which to handle it. For Elizabeth, you’ve got someone who of course wants to continue to do just about everything that she can to find peace — yet, at the same time she also is trying to figure out the right way to bring about that. She’s considering a diplomatic response to ethnic violence whereas Henry pushes for a stronger one. There’s some clear tension between the two here and we do not expect that this is something that is going to just go away in the blink of an eye.

Yet, at the same time Elizabeth and Henry know each other extremely well and have ultimately been through a good bit together. They will, more than likely, find a way to navigate through this … even if they take on a few disagreements first. They love each other and as we’ve seen over time, that is really the foundation for everything else that they deal with. The stakes may just be a little bit higher in the wake of Elizabeth deciding that a Presidential run could be something that is in her future.

Eventually, this episode will deliver what is its biggest selling point: Appearances from Colin Powell, Hillary Clinton, and Madeleine Albright. Just consider this preview something that brings you closer to this happening, and also something that really sets the stage for some big action that is coming up as the season moves along.
