With that being said, it does still seem as though there is a chance to see some sort of tease in the finale over what is coming in season 5. Speaking on this subject via Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Chambliss had the following to say:
“I would say the end of season 4 is not going to be a cliffhanger in the traditional sense, where we don’t know who’s going to make it, who’s not going to make it … But it is going to tease where the show and where these characters go in a really big way.”
Meanwhile, fellow EP Ian Goldberg added the following:
“I think we can say that we designed the finale to sort of set up where we’re going in season 5 … But we can also promise that there will be a lot of surprises in store. By the time you get to the end of the finale, the next step in these characters’ journeys and evolutions, we’re going to start to see a bit of the roadmap for that.”
Is all of this a pretty strong indicator that we could be seeing Fear the Walking Dead season 5 heading over to Alexandria and doing a Walking Dead crossover in earnest? That’s something that has floated out there as a rumor for a little while now, mostly due to the fact that Morgan has been angling to return home for a while. It could be compelling if the story is there! Yet, at the same exact time we don’t want to guarantee anything. It does feel like the writers know where the journey is going for some of these characters, even if they don’t want to completely spell out the where of it just yet.
