Game of Thrones series finale: Sophie Turner predicts divided reaction

Game of Thrones

Regardless of how the Game of Thrones series finale actually is, it does feel like Sophie Turner has more or less the right read on fan reaction. We’re in a climate where a good many people on social media feels like their opinion is right and everyone else’s is wrong. With that, there are likely going to be hot takes on the final episode — some people will like it, some will hate it, and some will probably hate it so much that they claim the entire series is ruined. The best thing that you can really hope for is to get at least the majority of the fans happy; if you can avoid a disaster akin to How I Met Your Mother / Dexter, we think everyone will and should have a smile on their faces in the end.

Turner recently shared some of her thoughts on the subject of the finale to IGN, including how she personally felt like the ending was spectacular and a worthy conclusion to everything that the series has done to date:

“I think, you know, as an actor it was really satisfying — I think for everyone, everyone’s storylines — to be able to act out the way that it all ends … It was really satisfying for us … Who knows if it will be satisfying for the fans … I think a lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon, I think.”

New episodes of Game of Thrones are going to be premiering on HBO next year, presumably in the first half of the year. At that point, we’ll start to see some whispers about the series finale, and we can also see with our own eyes what the show is building towards. We are excited, but regardless of how the show ends, we’re still sad about the notion that it could.
