Just in case you want to see Callie back on Grey’s Anatomy in the future, the following news should have your curiosity piqued. After all, it seems like the character could be coming back in the future … at least if the stars align.
There has been a lot of controversy on this subject for many weeks now, dating back to when apparently Grey’s Anatomy wanted Sara Ramirez back at the end of season 14 but, according to some, it wasn’t able to happen due to CBS. Ramirez is a regular now over on Madam Secretary, where she plays the role of Kat Sandoval.

Well, here’s some good news. As Ramirez confirmed on Twitter today, CBS is open to her going back on Grey’s Anatomy in the event that there is a way to make a Callie reprisal happen. The unfortunate thing now is that Jessica Capshaw is also gone from the series, and that in turn makes it all the harder to make a return appearance happen. We do personally want to see her back at least one more time, preferably in a way that shows that maybe Callie and Arizona do get some sort of happy ending and brighter future, even if it is not something that we get to see a whole lot of.
Basically, we know that a Callie return isn’t happening in the immediate future — otherwise, wouldn’t that have been reported by now? Also, Ramirez wouldn’t be saying this if a quick return for her was in the cards. Nonetheless, consider this the seed being planted and maybe at some point down the road, there will be a way to make this happen. It’s challenging given that the two shows film around the same time of year, but maybe there will be a small opening at the end of this current season (Grey’s Anatomy has more episodes and may therefore run later) where she could turn up.
