Criminal Minds season 14 spoilers: Boss on episode count, Prentiss story
So what about for Emily Prentiss? We’ve had questions surrounding Paget Brewster’s character for some time, mostly because the writers haven’t been altogether keen to give us much information for a while. Luckily, that is starting to change a little bit, as one upcoming episode could feature an interesting personal story for Prentiss — even if it comes out of a rather horrific circumstance.

Speaking via TVLine, here is some of what show executive producer Erica Messer had to say on this subject:
Well, she meets somebody in an unexpected way in an episode written by Erica Meredith that almost plays in real-time, where every 27 minutes somebody’s getting killed in Washington in a machete attack.
In this interview, Messer also touches on something else that we know people out there are interested in — the episode count for the series. We know that there are 15 episodes at present, but we reported recently that it could be changed depending on many different factors. That’s something that she ended up confirming:
Right now, we’re working off of 15. You know, there’s always a chance there’s more. I wouldn’t know about that until probably mid-October, but at this point we’re just going with the 15 order. And I’m planning for that in terms of storytelling, but if they give us more, great!
Do we want more than 15 episodes? Sure, but we’d also settle for getting a season 15. The most important thing is finding a way in which to continue the story and we hope that the writers have a chance to do that — this is why Criminal Minds performing well in the ratings this season is so integral, and we absolutely hope that it has a chance to do just that.
