Ink Master season 11 episode 5 video: The trouble with tape

Ink Master

Ink Master season 11 episode 5 is coming up on the Paramount Network on Tuesday night and we can describe the sneak peek in one simple word: Tape. This flash challenge is going to be one of the trickiest ones that we’ve seen some of these artists tackle, mostly because tape is not the easiest substance in the world to deal with. It’s not particularly forgiving since you have to straighten it properly, and one mistake with it can leave bubbles and other stuff behind.

One other important thing to consider when it comes to this episode is the theme for the week: Creativity. The artists are being asked to come up with creative, innovative concepts and we do think that this throws another wrench into the proceedings. It’s not just about having the most-technical design; instead, it’s about figuring out a way for it to stand out and be memorable. You can already see some tension breaking out between the teams because of this, which shouldn’t really come as all that much of a shock. When you’ve got this many creative people in one place, they all have ideas as to what is best.

In the end, what you are really left with here are two very different approaches as to how to handle this particular challenge. For Team Cleen Rock One, we have what may be the bigger, more ambitious design in terms of covering the most space. It’s also very colorful and you can see the image clearly. Meanwhile, for Team Christian Buckingham you’re seeing something a little bit more abstract — it’s far more creative, but at the same time, is it too creative? You want to still be able to understand what you’re looking at, and one of the clear concerns going into this challenge is that they’ve gone a little too far with this idea and not everyone is actually going to understand precisely what they are looking at.
