When Bull season 3 episode 1 airs on CBS Monday night, you’re going to get a pretty clear sense of where Dr. Jason Bull is at after his heart attack. The sneak peek that CarterMatt has for you below is proof of that.
Physically, there is no doubt that he is doing much better. He’s gotten himself in shape, he is eating and drinking better (looks like he’s drinking some green juice in the video), and he seems to be taking care of himself in general and caring more about his appearance.
Yet, this doesn’t mean that emotionally he’s turned into a completely different person in the slightest. On the contrary, the sneak peek below seems to indicate that this version of Bull is one who is not letting himself fall victim to an emotional story for the sake of making himself feel better. This is someone who is even more transfixed on trying to figure out the right way to make money, and that means sometimes taking a job from people who may not be altogether likable.
In the premiere, the TAC is going to team up with a powerful insurance company in a battle against a woman who is facing some serious medical issues. This feels like a classic David vs. Goliath story and in season 2, we probably would have seen Bull try and fight for the little guy. Here, he indicates to the team that the insurance company hired them and he’s not going to let emotion sway him from doing a good job. He encourages everyone else within the team to do the same.
Will Bull actually keep this mindset for the entirety of the episode? That’s something that remains to be seen, but we wouldn’t be shocked if somehow, someway, Bull changes his mind about this case midway through. He may be trying to have a different outlook on things now after his heart attack, one where he doesn’t try to be a superhero for everyone all the time. Yet, he is still Jason Bull — he can’t just completely change his stripes.
