Chicago Fire season 7 promotes Annie Ilonzeh (Emily) to series regular
According to Deadline, Ilonzeh (pictured with co-star Kara Killmer) will be a series regular moving forward from here, which shows that the producers are pretty satisfied with everything that they are seeing at the moment. The actress was originally brought on as a recurring presence as Emily Foster, a new paramedic who is brought in to Firehouse 51 to fill the void left by Dawson’s exit. She is very skilled at what she does, but she also is harboring some secrets from her past that make her all the more intriguing moving forward.

You are going to have a chance to see the Emily character during the upcoming premiere episode airing on Wednesday night, and we’ll see where the story goes from there. We’ll be honest — when we were at One Chicago Day last week, it was easy to just assume that Ilonzeh was already a regular with the way that she was a part of interviews (we recently posted some interview snippets with her and Killmer) and the spotlight that was put on her character. At that time, it was clear that Chicago Fire was planning to have a larger role for her coming up.
While we don’t think there’s any replacing Dawson, the good news is that Emily Foster is not a carbon copy of her. She’s her own person with her unique perspective and we think that you’re going to like her, based on what we’ve seen with the character to date.
