The Purge episode 4 preview: The story of ‘Release the Beast’
We don’t want to beat around the bush here too much, mostly because of the fact that this show is fairly relentless in its approach in the first place. It needs to be given the nature of this genre, and also the fact that USA is hyping this up so much as a ten-episode television event. It needs to move quickly in order for it to really work.
Below, the episode 4 synopsis does offer up a little bit more information when it comes to what lies ahead:
Jane must leave the office. Lila consoles Jenna. Penelope is thrust into the Carnival of Flesh.
How are the ratings?
We were certainly worried coming into episode 2 last week that there would be a big drop-off in the numbers, and that’s not meant to be any sort of commentary on this series as a whole. Instead, that just has a thing or two to do more with the fact that most horror TV series tend to lose a lot of viewers from one week to the next.
Yet, The Purge managed to buck that trend somewhat in how it delivered a really nice performance when thinking about its week 2 ratings. It still managed to generate a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and, to go along with that, a total of 1.27 million viewers. The ratings here are pretty close to the premiere numbers, and if this trend does continue, we do wonder if we are going to see The Purge become more than just a limited series event moving into the future. Hey, it did happen with The Sinner so anything is possible.
