See Julie Chen’s goodbye message from The Talk (video)
It was reported yesterday that Julie would say goodbye to the show in a pre-recorded video message, but what was somewhat of a surprise to us was that she decided to do so with a message that seemingly came after her appearance on Big Brother Thursday night. Clearly, this was a decision that she had planned out for some time; it’s a little strange to associate this message with the other show Chen works on, but this may have just been out of timing considerations. (It’s easier to film something when you’re already on a set.)

In the goodbye message, Chen addresses her exit by saying that she feels that it is best to spend more time with her husband and family — she does not directly mention Les Moonves’ name, but it is his exit from CBS over sexual misconduct and assault allegations that precipitated this move. She then goes on to thank the crew behind the scenes of the show, the viewers who watched over the years, and also some of her fellow panelists, including show creator Sara Gilbert and also Sharon Osbourne, who were both with her at the very beginning of its run.
The Talk obviously will continue, and we imagine that it will continue to be a mainstay for many. While it has long been compared to The View for many obvious reasons, it has done a better job maintaining stability over the years — and also having less controversy around some of its discussions. We imagine that it will remain the same now, but we do wonder if the ties between it and Big Brother will be the same with Julie no longer around. In years past, many winners would go on to appear on The Talk, and there was a time when many of the hosts went behind the scenes of the house prior to the start of a season.
