Supergirl season 4 poster has some Red Son inklings
If you look below, you can see this new poster, which features Kara (Melissa Benoist) in some sort of strange, red streams of something. We don’t think that this is actually meant to be some sort of direct reference to something in the new season — we don’t foresee red coursing through various scenes quite like what it’s doing here. Yet, we do think that red as a symbol of danger or fear holds some value, and that is reflected within the tagline here: “A force against fear.” That is significant when you think about the reports that one of season 4’s major storylines is going to be the arrival of Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer), a man intent on driving people against each other using paranoia and extremism. He wants people to think that aliens are bad and with that, he is going to find a way to get ahead.
The fact that the poster is so red, and the show is eventually planning some sort of Red Son / Red Daughter storyline should not be thought of as a coincidence. While it’s still not clear how this comic-book story (really tied more to Superman) is going to play out, it doesn’t appear as though it is going to be an immediate priority. Instead, this is more something that you can expect to see play out slowly over time.
