Outlander season 4: The value of PaleyFest for the cast, producers

Outlander season 4

In this morning’s Outlander update, we come bearing a reminder that next month, the cast and crew are going to be rather busy in New York.

There is a good chance that you know already that Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Sophie Skelton, and Richard Rankin are going to be appearing at New York Comic-Con on October 6. They have a panel happening on that day, and we think there’s a reasonably good chance that the premiere will be screened there. (No guarantees, but the fact that it is a 90-minute panel gives us some hope of that.)

Well, to go along with the NYCC panel, the day before there is another appearance of many familiar faces over at PaleyFest in New York City! The panel is happening at the Paley Center for Media on October 5 (one day before the panel), and while the full cast of attendees has not been revealed just yet, we hope that many similar people to the panel will be there. This is a chance to see a more-intimate discussion of the new season and the work from the people who put so much into making it. We’ve been to an event at the Paley Center on the West Coast before and we do think that it’s a pretty fun experience.

Alas, tickets for the event are already sold out — another reminder that Outlander is always going to be in extremely high demand no matter where you go. Rest assured, though, that there tend to be good social-media coverage of these events when they happen. We’ll of course also have plenty of updates of our own over the course of the night, so be on the lookout for them come October 5. We’ll touch on what the cast and crew have to say and, to go along with that, how effective it is as promotion for the upcoming season. Remember here that season 4 is going to be premiering on Starz come Sunday, November 4 — we think that these panels function as excellent industry promotion, and a way to get out some specific and thoughtful teases on what lies ahead and some of the work that goes into the performances. It’s always nice to get full cast panels before the premiere, especially one in this sort of environment.
