NBC’s Manifest: First tease promises suspense, sadness, and adventure
“Montego Air Flight 828 lands after ra turbulent but otherwise routine flight, the 191 passengers and its crew learn that while only a few hours passed for them, the rest of the world has considered them missing – and presumed dead – for over five years. As the passengers try to reintegrate themselves into the world, some of the experience strange phenomena, leading them to believe they may be meant for something greater than they ever thought possible.”
The sneak peek introduces us to the Stone family. Narrating the beginning is Michaela Beth Stone (Melissa Roxburgh) who explains to us that the family is leaving Montego Bay, Jamaica from a family vacation. Her brother, (Ben) his wife (Grace), and their twins (Olive and Cal), along with her parents, all made the trip.
However, when the flight crew informs the passengers that the flight is overbooked and as a result will offer up to $400 dollars to move to a later flight, Michaela jumps at the opportunity to get away from her parents, who have nagging her about saying yes to her boyfriend, Jared’s proposal.
Ben also says he will stay behind in order to get $400 dollars to put toward going to the Mayo Clinic for Cal, who has leukemia. Cal offers to stay behind with his father.
This is where the chaos and mystery begin.
So after watching the first act, we immediately wanted more. The writers quickly got to the point of the show without rushing to get there. We were hooked right away as we watched things go from suspicious to chaotic. Every scene moved forward setting up how this show will format itself week after week.
Each character also had their own voice. In other words, we could close our eyes and know who was talking. Now you may be thinking that each character has a different actor playing them and they all sound different, but what we mean is that if we were to have read the script first before watching the sneak peek, we could picture each character because they all have a very unique personality.
This series also has Josh Dallas as part of the main cast. Dallas was on the ABC hit, Once Upon a Time for many years helping to make it a huge success, so NBC sees this as a way of getting viewers to tune into their new show. Once Upon a Time fans will surely tune into to see what Prince Charming is up to now and if the rest of the series is as strong as the sneak peek is, then NBC shouldn’t have a problem with keeping viewers.
We encourage viewers to tune in to NBC on September 24 at 10 p.m. and check out the premiere! For more news related to Manifest, be sure to visit this link. or you can join our official CarterMatt Facebook page to make sure that you never miss an update.
