Absentia: What a Stana Katic – People’s Choice Awards nomination would mean
Is the Amazon series an underdog to get an official nomination, let alone a trophy? Absolutely, and for a number of different reasons — starting with just the simple fact that technically, the series is not even on the shortlist of nominees. The same goes for star Stana Katic. If you want to nominate it or Katic under some categories (which include The Show of 2018, Drama TV Star of 2018, and more), you have to write it in over at the link here. There aren’t as many voting methods available as there are for some other shows / performers, so this makes voting all the more of a difficult task.
Yet, there is some merit in doing so and continuing this underdog story, starting with the simple fact that Stana herself has a great history at the PCAs over the years, having won a number of trophies there for her role on Castle. It’d be great to see that tradition continue and she certainly has a legion of loyal fans among the voting community.
In this case, even a nomination (let alone a win) would be a huge boost for a show that may still be under-the-radar for a number of people in America. The truth of the matter is that in 2018, there are literally hundreds of scripted programming options out there and with that, it’s hard to get attention to every single one. For Absentia, awards are a way to get the story out there and for people to get a strong recommendation of it as a great property. That should be plenty of fuel to vote for it, as it’s a chance to boost the attention more leading into season 2.
Even if there is no official nomination that comes either with the show or Katic, isn’t it just a nice way to rally the fans?
