NCIS: New Orleans season 5: Geoffrey Owens set to appear
According to a report from Deadline, Owens is set to appear on the CBS crime procedural as Commander Adams, an old friend of Wayne Pride (Scott Bakula) and someone he goes to for support and advice in the midst of his recovery from his shooting. Owens will appear in the sixth episode of the season, and this gig comes at the right time both for Owens and the series itself, given that we don’t want to see them brush off what happened to Pride in the early going this season.

In an official statement, show executive producer Christopher Silber had the following to say:
“For Commander Adams, we needed someone with compassion, competence and heart… That’s Geoffrey in a nutshell. An accomplished actor who seemed like the perfect fit to add to our extended repertory company … We’re lucky to have him on the show.”
At the time his job went viral, one of the things that Owens said was that he didn’t want special treatment for jobs that he wouldn’t have gotten beforehand. This gig seems to fit that promise in that these sort of gigs were what Owens was getting prior to his story hitting the internet. He was doing a number of one-episode gigs while also working in the grocery business; the big difference now is that these castings offer up a little more publicity for him than they did before.

This is the second major TV gig for Owens over the past week, as he was also recently cast in OWN’s The Haves and the Have Nots for a fairly important role.
