Miss America 2019: Is Bridget Oei or Nia Conway the winner?

Miss America 2018

Who was the winner of Miss America 2019? It’s fair to say that tonight was a different sort of pageant than most. There was no swimsuit contest, there were more interviews, and there was of course still the talent portion. This is still a strange pageant at times, one where the questions range from very vague to shockingly specific and where the production is a little too over-the-top for its own good.

Yet, let’s go ahead now and lay out who the top five are — they managed to navigate the crazy quirks of the competition well enough to stay standing at the end.

New York – Nia Franklin

Louisiana – Holli Conway

Massachusetts – Gabriela Taveras

Florida – Taylor Tyson

Connecticut – Bridget Oei

After listening to their final Q&A session, it was really hard to determine who was the right winner just because the questions were so unbalanced. How could you treat all of them equally?

Anyhow, here are the full results from tonight.

Fourth runner-up – Taveras, Massachusetts.

Third runner-up – Tyson, Florida

Second runner-up – Conway, Louisiana.

First runner-up – Bridget Oei, Connecticut.

Miss America – Nia Franklin!

Was this the right winner? Well, it’s all subjective! Yet, we do think it is fun to see a contestant from New York get the title this year, and this is a chance for her to use her platform in order to spread some good. She also was incredibly composed after winning, which has to be rather hard to do given the crazy emotion of this particular moment.

As for whether or not the new format of the pageant is successful, that’s something that we’re probably not going to have all of the necessary information on until we get around to seeing the ratings.
