Miss America 2019 start time, network, judges, and other information
Before getting into that, let’s start things off here with some of the basic details in regards to the pageant. It will be airing on ABC, and the special will officially begin airing at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time — basically, on the other side of the vast majority of football (but not all of it). The event is going to be hosted by Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba (network synergy!) and also Ross Matthews. As for the judges, Laila Ali, Bobby Bones, Jessie James Decker, Randy Jackson, Soledad O’Brien, Alli Webb and Carnie Wilson will help preside over the proceedings. As for why there are this many judges, that’s a very good question — but clearly, they are coming from all walks of entertainment life.
The pageant this year is going to be structured in a way that is very different than in years past, mostly because the focus with the pageant is going to be more about the talents of the contestants — and their thoughts and their appearance — more so than their appearance. The swimsuit portion of the competition has been scrapped in an attempt to try and push the pageant in a different direction.
Not all of the changes behind the scenes have been well-received by all, and we know that there’s been a lot of controversy when it comes to the new pageant leadership — including petitions calling for changes at the top. We’re not altogether sure that any of these changes are going to be known or noticeable during the broadcast at all, given that the focus there is probably going to just be on trying to produce the best overall event possible. We’ll see whether or not that pans out.
