Outlander season 4 trailer: How much footage should it show off?

Outlander season 4

While there may not be an Outlander season 4 trailer just yet, we remain confident that one will be released very soon. With that, this feels like the right time to start asking some questions, including precisely how much new footage it should show off?

With this in mind, we thought that this would be a worthy topic of discussion today, so let’s start things off with this: It would obviously be great to see a lot of footage from almost the entire season. The reality however is that this probably won’t happen. Going into the season, Starz is almost certainly going to want to keep some cards close to the vest, even with this show being based on a book series that is already well-read by most of the audience.

Don’t be surprised if Starz chooses to keep some big scenes out of the trailer, including Brianna eventually meeting Jamie or much of her journey into the past. The most we imagine seeing is the very beginnings of that, such as her making that choice. Hopefully, we’ll get a few moments with Roger, but we don’t have super-high expectations based on everything we’ve seen in the promotional campaign so far.

Meanwhile, we also don’t have super-high expectations in terms of what we’re going to see for Murtagh … who may or may not be a part of this season. Starz has no intention of giving that away anytime soon.

With this in mind, let’s shift over to some of the things that we do expect. Be prepared for a trailer to give you a good introduction to Jamie and Claire’s new life in America, to the River Run estate, and also to some new faces like Jocasta Cameron and Ulysses. We expect a little Stephen Bonnet, but not the full story. The trailer should show some of how they are adapting, and eventually also some of the specific struggles that they are facing.

More so than the season 2 trailer being about characters, our biggest expectation is that this is going to be a trailer about places. The new setting will factor into almost everything we see and we have a feeling that this is precisely how Starz wants it — after all, that’s the focus of the key art just as much as Jamie and Claire are.
