Outlander EP Ronald D. Moore takes out full-page ad recognizing Terry Dresbach

Outlander season 4

If you’re looking for a candidate for one of the most-romantic full-page ads in the history of the Los Angeles Times, we believe that we have a winner here!

On Friday, Outlander executive producer Ronald D. Moore took out a full-page ad in celebration of the work of Terry Dresbach, the series’ Emmy-nominated costume designer (and also his wife). The two worked in close collaboration for many years on the project, but with the upcoming fourth season being her last, this was the perfect way in which to thank her.

Over the past several years, Dresbach has taken on what is a rather-incredible task with the Starz series. Not only has she created many a fantastic costume, but she’s also figured out a way to do this across multiple time periods and continents. In season 3 alone, she needed to blend together 20th-century fashion in Boston with 18th-century Scotland and eventually the Caribbean. These are three very-distinct places with their own fashions and trends, and the same thing goes for what she did in season 2 when the series moved much of its setting to France. There are very few other shows we can think of that have presented as arduous a task to their costume designer over the course of the first few years, and she consistently delivered. While Dresbach did not end up winning the Emmy this year for her period-costume work (it went instead to the team from The Crown), in no way does that diminish any of the work that she’s done. It is exceptional and we’re thrilled that she was able to represent the show with an Emmy nod this year.
