Last Man Standing season 7: Tim Allen, Nancy Travis on how fans saved show

Last Man Standing

As many of you likely know if you are a big fan of Last Man Standingthere is one reason the series is back on Fox: The fans. Even after the show met an untimely end on ABC over a year ago, there were many out there who campaigned and fought hard in order to ensure that there could be more of it down the line. Their dream became a reality this past spring, when Fox (after seeing the success of the Roseanne revival, ironically on ABC) decided that they wanted to bring the Tim Allen series back.

The recently-released video below (which includes footage from the first taping of the season) features Allen and Nancy Travis discussing how hard the fans fought in order to ensure that they could come back and continue to make more of the show. Beyond that, you also hear from Chad Miller, one of the people most responsible for coordinating social-media fan campaigns in order to keep the save-our-show spirit alive. Miller was present at the first taping in order to represent many of the fans out there and also to meet the cast and crew. (You can see him getting a chance to meet Allen in the video.)

These fans are the same people who may be able to make Last Man Standing into a big hit for Fox this fall. There are obviously questions that are going to come when a show goes off the air for more than a year, but we think there’s an eager and engaged group out there waiting to see the show back. It has performed well in syndication ever since going off the air — heck, syndication is one of the reasons why this show could’ve been an even bigger hit right now had ABC kept it around. There are a lot of people out there who may not have seen the first couple of seasons when they came out, but found a way to get hooked on it through repeats over time. There could be enthusiasm around watching this show live, which is rare for a series these days.
