Fall TV Preview: Will ABC’s A Million Little Pieces left Wednesday nights?

A Million Little Things

There are a number of shows coming up this fall, and a lot of them revolve around a simple theme: Raw emotion. A Million Little Things is going to have its fair share of drama, and on the surface feels a little bit like ABC’s answer to This Is Us. It’s going to be emotional and painful at times, but in the end it’s about a group of people from different walks of life who come together.

Originally, the characters all came together after they were trapped in an elevator together. At the start of the new series, it’s going to happen because of a funeral. The death of their friend John is going to force all of these friends to come back together and connect — while is include dealing with some more hard times in life. You’re going to see a possible cancer battle, some relationship struggles, and also figur out how people are meant to move forward in life.

If you’re watching this show, you are probably doing so for the performances and the cast — and it’s got a good assemblage of people. Psych star James Roday is a part of the ensemble, as will David Giuntoli from Grimm and former Hawaii Five-0 star Grace Park. These are people who you’ve come to know for some very specific things throughout their career and this is a chance for all of them to come on board and do something totally different, there is something rather exciting about that.

As for whether or not you should watch, we do think that there’s hope for this series to be excellent, dramatic, and interesting — it could remind all of us of the importance of friendship. It is a challenging show to predict in terms of its success, though, as these emotion-based dramas tend to do either really well or fade away quickly. It needs to get off to a good start, and it needs good reviews from both critics and viewers alike. It’s the sort of show that needs to have an excellent pilot more than a procedural or a sitcom does.
