Outlander author Diana Gabaldon to throw out first pitch at Yankees game
As Diana revealed in a post on Facebook (see below), she will be doing said honor for the September 14 game at Yankee Stadium — against our personal favorite team in the Toronto Blue Jays. (In between being a Blue Jays and Padres fan, we are suffering mightily this year.) It’s not the sort of thing anyone probably imagines doing when you first get into writing, but that’s in part what makes it so cool. Gabaldon noted on Twitter that she’ll likely get some video clip for it — these sort of things are not always shown on television, so it’s hard to know whether or not that’s something we’re going to be seeing in advance. If you are a diehard Yankees fans and you watch the games anyway, it may be something to look out for just in case.
All in all, this is a pretty cool honor, and it’s another fun way to keep both the show and the books in the press for a little while longer. Season 4 of Outlander premieres on Starz come November 4, and Gabaldon is working on the latest book in her series in Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. There is no official release date for it yet.
It’s actually been a pretty fun time when it comes to Outlander and baseball, as it wasn’t all that long ago when Sam Heughan was at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, during his The Spy Who Dumped Me promotional tour.
